Privacy Policy

ChairStart (“we”, “us”) helps dental hygienists in California plan and start an RDHAP practice. This policy explains what we collect when you use chairstart.com, why, who helps us run the service, and the choices you have. ChairStart is operated by [legal business name and mailing address].
What we collect
- Account details: your email address and a password. Passwords are stored only as a secure one-way hash by our authentication provider, and we can never see them.
- Your plan and progress: your answers to the setup questions (for example career stage, practice type, time and budget range, payer mix), the options you pick, items you check off, quests completed, patient visit counts you log, and your supply kit.
- Activity history: a timestamped log of those actions, used to show your recent activity and to improve ChairStart.
- Coach conversations: the questions you ask the AI coach and its answers, saved to your account so the coach can remember your conversation.
- Technical data: like every website, our hosting and security providers receive your IP address, browser type and request times when you visit. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
What not to share
Please don't enter patient information, such as names, dates of birth, health details or anything that identifies a patient, into ChairStart or the AI coach. ChairStart is a business-planning tool and is not designed to store protected health information.
How we use it
- To run your account and save your progress across devices.
- To answer your coach questions with advice that fits your profile and current step.
- To send account emails, such as confirming your email address and resetting your password.
- To understand, in aggregate, where students get stuck, so we can improve the steps and guidance.
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse, for example the daily limit on coach questions.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Service providers we use
We share data only with companies that help us run ChairStart, and only what each one needs:
- Supabase: account sign-in and our database (United States). Stores everything listed above.
- Anthropic (Claude): powers the AI coach. When you ask a question, we send it with relevant context (your profile answers, choices, progress and current step) to generate the answer. Some questions may use web search, which sends search terms based on your question.
- Netlify: hosts the website.
- Resend: delivers account emails.
- Cloudflare: domain name service for chairstart.com.
- Google Fonts and jsDelivr: deliver the site's font and a code library, so your browser connects to them and they receive your IP address.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our users and the service.
Browser storage
ChairStart stores your sign-in session and a copy of your progress in your browser's local storage, so the app works quickly and keeps you signed in. Signing out clears it.
How long we keep it
We keep your account data while your account is open. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your account, progress, activity history and coach conversations within [30] days. Our providers may keep backups for a limited time after that.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to show you, correct or delete your personal information, and to export a copy of your data. California residents have these rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, and we honor them for everyone. Email hello@chairstart.com from the address on your account. We'll respond within 45 days and won't treat you differently for asking.
Security
Data travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Each person's records are protected so only they can read them, and our AI key and other secrets are kept on the server, never in the website. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
Children
ChairStart is meant for adults in dental hygiene programs or practice. It is not intended for anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above. If the change is significant, we'll tell you by email or in the app.
